Spring 2011 One-Day Sit in Millersburg
April 17, 2011
What: Join us for a day of zazen (seated meditation), kinhin (walking meditation), a delicious vegetarian lunch, a walk in the fresh air, dokusan (private student-teacher talk) and a dharma talk in the afternoon. Dave will give free, 20 minute, private Breema bodywork treatments to the first folks who respond and fit into the schedule. Zazen is a simple, easily learned practice of sitting quietly with awareness on a cushion or chair, holding a particular posture and letting thoughts, feelings, and perceptions come and go as they will. Through this practice, it is possible to gain insight into the workings of the mind and body, and also to find a stability that can be carried into daily life. Beginners welcome. Tim McCarthy, Zen teacher of the Kent Zendo, was a student of the late Kobun Chino Otagawa, Roshi. Cost for the day: $12 (Includes lunch). Contact us if you can't afford this an we will work something out.
